This is a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD FILE that will be emailed to you immediately after purchase. It has been designed as an editable PDF, making it simple to change for your needs (choosing different sight words, changing it to a Bump math game, etc.). While this file comes with Dolche Sight Words for First graders listed on the lily pads and cards, ALL of the text on this file is customizable. Included in the file is a sheet of lily pad flash cards, to be used in creating a matching set of Sight Word flash cards to accompany the game. The game can also be customized to be a math game (using two dice).ĭesigned using hand-cut paper and hand-drawn patterns, this Play Mat game board is intended to be used with any frog toys or counter cubes that can be stacked in pairs, about 1 to 2.5 inches in size. If you draw a sight word that you have already covered with your own game piece, you can stack another piece on top of it, "freezing" that space. If an opponent is already on that number, the player may bump his/her game piece off and take their space. If the player can read the sight word, they find their word on the game board, and cover that lily pad with their color game piece. To play bump, a player draws a Sight Word card, and reads it outloud. It is customizable file, that can be used with either Sight Words or math problems. You will be amazed and how engaged your students are all day with this simple schedule. This Kindergarten printable is a Bump Game Board, with a Frog Unit theme. I hope that you try it out and see its magic firsthand. Conclusionīoard Game Day is my favorite theme day of the whole year and I look forward to it each and every year. Then, when the day is over they are eager to have their friends and family try them out. They absolutely love creating their games. They are so engaged at this time that you could hear a pin drop. Then they write down the rules for their game. They decide if they want to use dice, a spinner, or cards. They use your art supplies (which helps to get rid of any unwanted materials for the year), or these printable board game pieces, to start making their boards. The children spend all afternoon making up their own games and then eventually playing them with their friends. The afternoon is probably what makes Board Game Day my favorite theme day of the whole year. Hence, board game day is the always the third to last day of school.Īll you need to plan for Board Game Day is some leftover art supplies you want to get rid of anyways and to invite the children to bring in their favorite board games. I love to have a Crazy Cleanup Day the second to last day of school so that my students can help clean up the room and say goodbye to it. But the third to last day of school is usually a very long day and pretty much everything is done and ready to send home today so that bags aren’t too heavy over the next couple of days. For me, our last day is always a half day so there really isn’t a lot of time to do much. I always plan my favorite theme day – board game – for the third to last day of school. I highly encourage all of you to try it this year! My all-time favorite day, hands down, is Board Game Day. I love using theme days at the end of the year to keep students engaged and excited each day. With the end of the year approaching, I can’t help but get excited for my favorite theme day for the whole year – Board Game Day.
